Aside from his duties as a member of The Harrow, New York City’s Frank Deserto runs an excellent blog for underground vinyl rips called Systems of Romance, filled with obscurities for the music-lover to revel over. Naturally, his mixes reflect his love of obscure gems, and his latest for Post-Punk.com is no exception. The hour-+ long mix focuses entirely on female-fronted acts in the realms of minimal wave, industrial, coldwave and generally odd sounds, which also makes it a perfect fit for our ears. With cuts from post-Malaria project Matador, Kas Product, Pink Industry, The Vyllies and more, it’s a lovely look back at some no-longer forgotten classics and a reminder that women have been kicking aural ass for decades.
