Berghain From An EDM Perspective
There are two separate worlds out there and they try not to cross paths, ever. On one side you have Electric Daisy Festival, Steve Aoki, glowsticks and huge clubs in Las Vegas. On the other are warehouse raves, a static 4/4 beat and nostalgia. The question is, why aren’t these poles more connected? Would it be possible to operate on a cross-section of EDM and techno?
The short answer is: no. The long answer is located in Josh Bennett’s first person account of a visit to Berghain, where he is converted and subsequently knocks down many of the conventions EDM is built around.
