Did Kraftwerk cop the sound of a car engine revving up (which opens their legendary track “Autobahn”) from an early ’70s sample disc? Kraftwerk’s Ralf Hütter is very vocal about his sample politics; he’s still mad at a German producer over a misused two-second snippet. He described the sound in question as having been recorded from his own Volkswagen in an interview with German TV- Station ZDF, but someone has found that exact sound elsewhere.
