Make Quantum Music With The Large Hadron Collider

It seems every other week the world’s largest particle accelerator discovers new supersymmetric particles among near the French-Swiss border. Now, with the neat little web app Quantizer, you can use the raw data from these pioneering ATLAS experiments as the source of your own musical ones. Quantizer sonifies real-time data from the experiments and converts “calorimeter energy deposits, tracks, muon detector hits, and missing energy” into cosmic or house musical numbers. And with one collision equaling around 30 seconds of musical material, there’s plenty of music to be made.

Listen to a playlist of tracks inspired by the LHC here.
