The Future of Music Is A Chip Inside Your Brain
Want a glimpse into the into the near future of music? The Wall Street Journal is suggesting we picture a chip-based streaming service that operates from inside your head and runs on your own emotions and life experiences. It’s a radical picture that music theorist Stephen Witt proposes as a 2040 scenario. Witt’s futuristic vision pictures a service that would replace DJs or preference-based streaming services with “mood-affiliated procedural remixing” that instantly adapts to your brain circuits.
Considering how much music has changed in the past 30 years, the merging of man and machine for the purpose of highly adaptive and enhanced music consumption doesn’t sound that far fetched. For more of Stephen Witt’s ideas, check out his book, How Music Became Free.
