A modern spin on an old classic
Wagner’s Parsifal is a high-water mark of operatic history; Wagner himself describing it in such humble words as a “A Festival Play for the Consecration of the Stage”. It is a testament to the opera’s enduring qualities that on July 4th, the Bayreuth Festspielhaus classic is being relaunched as a contemporary piece with the help of some modern musical royalty. Moritz von Oswald, Nina Kraviz, Peaches and literally the only bouncer that ever existed Sven Marquardt, have teamed up with art collective “Like a Wild Beast’s Fur” and a series of actors to present Parsifal as a short film. It debuts online on July 4th, and for twenty days you will be able to see the whole film at Galerie Bensperger. By the way, Sven plays “the motif of the power of the grail” in case you were wondering. True that.
