Better sound, improved wireless support and a thinner device are all good reasons as to why Apple’s design team decided to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. On the other hand, the decision to remove the headphone jack also makes it harder to use headphones with a 3.5mm plug, which is a tough thing to accept for those of us who’ve invested in nice gear. But at the end of the day, who really cares? Our opinion on the matter doesn’t really mean anything. Technology will continue to progress in strange new directions whether we like it or not.
Personally, we’re going to wait this one out…but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to upgrade in our own way. Check out Apple Plug, it lets you seal up the headphone jack on your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s for a mere sliver of the cost of a new smartphone.
