Electro Faustus, a NYC-based company that creates out-there production tools and effects, has introduced a new module to its range of instruments, which already includes the Strangulator, Drum Thing and Photo Theremin. The Blackfly is described as a spring-activated instrument capable of producing a “wide spectrum of sonic textures.” In a demo, self-proclaimed “doom-drone-noise-death-ambient synthesist” Swan Messiah patches the Blackfly through a Moogerfooger MF102 Ring Mod & MF104Z Analog Delay, with reverb from a mixing desk. The result sounds a lot like the Kraftwerk during Atonal week; watch it in full here.
