Reality is malleable, and that’s something Elevenplay and Rhizomatiks know well. Their dance-art project Border combines virtual and the physical, robotics and living flesh, dancer and audience. Viewers ride individual mobile devices called WHILLS, which are controlled by radio wave programming and take them through the installation space to experience the dancers from multiple perspectives. Audience members also receive customized virtual reality headsets that allow alternate realities to intrude.
