As street and art is entering the galleries and designers are getting their inspiration from alternative and street culture, why not have a look at where it all started? The street art documentary Beautiful Losers directed by Aaron Rose takes us back to the beginning of the 1990's, when a loose-knit group of likeminded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery celebrating DIY culture.
Back then these guys just did what they liked: skateboarding, surfing, music, graffiti - all the things that have since become a movement that has been transforming pop culture.
Beautiful Losers tells the personal stories of some of the most influential artists here, such as Barry McGee, Chris Johanson, Ed Tempelton and Geoff McFetridge. See how the outsiders from yesterday have become the influencers of today.
