13 Influential LPs That Shaped Modular Synth Legend Suzanne Ciani
These should become essential listening for electronic music fans.
We’ve known how Buchla early-adopter Suzanne Ciani has influenced a younger generation of electronic musicians ever since we ran a Mentors feature starring her and her disciple, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. But we haven’t heard much about what shaped her own musical palette—aside from what she told us in this conversation with Donato Dozzy and her mix featuring the heroes of modular synthesis.
She filled the gap in a feature that asked for her 13 favorite LPs. With a background in electronics, sound design and new age music, we weren’t surprised to see the likes of Terry Riley on the list. But we didn’t necessarily expect Dire Straits and a few others to make the cut. Check out all her selections on The Quietus.
