Check Out IKEA’s New Turntable, Speaker And Lights
Throw your sweaty basement rave the Swedish way.
Earlier this year, Teenage Engineering CEO Jesper Kouthoofd let it slip that that the Swedish audio technology company was teaming up with IKEA for a hybrid range of sound system-inspired furniture. “I started thinking about how, a lot of Swedes, we go to Ikea when we have a party—to get candles, napkins”, Kouthoofd explained. “Maybe we could do something that’s really affordable so people can buy a sound system, including a light show—a complete party.”
Finally, the companies have unveiled images of some of the prototypes from the new FREKVENS range. Channeling the spirit of IKEA’s minimalist design and the inviting primary color palette of TE’s synths, the turntable, speakers and light have an elegant simplicity. The system also appears to be modular, meaning you can hopefully mix and match the different smaller items into a giant party rig.
FREKVENS is expected to arrive in June 2019. Stay tuned to TEB for further details as they’re announced, and check out more images via Instagram here.
