Afrika Bambaataa’s 40,000+ Record Collection To Be Archived
In Incredibly Awesome News, Cornell University plans to add Afrika Bambaataa’s record collection to their Hip Hop Archives:
“Bambaataa, who recently completed a three-year term as the CHHC’s first visiting scholar, is an internationally recognized pioneer of hip-hop. He gave the genre its name and was the first to define its core artistic elements—DJing, rapping, breakdancing and graffiti—under a single cultural umbrella”, writes the Cornell Chronicle. The collection consists of 40,000+ records, a lot of them annotated by the artist himself.
