Goldie Just Suggested That Banksy Is In Massive Attack
Oops.
Always one for a memorable quote, Goldie has seemingly confirmed recent speculation that legendary graffiti artist Banksy is actually Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja. Speaking on Scroobius Pip’s “Distraction Pieces” podcast, the UK producer and fellow graf artist let slip the name “Robert” when discussing Banksy and the commercialization of street art. “Give me a bubble letter and put it on a T-shirt and write Banksy on it and we’re sorted”, Goldie said. “We can sell it now…No disrespect to Robert, I think he is a brilliant artist. I think he has flipped the world of art over.”
After letting the name slip, Goldie swiftly tried to change the topic which only lends strength to recent rumors that the Massive Attack member is the head of a group of artists that fall under the Banksy name. While we eagerly wait more developments, listen below to Burial’s new remix of a Goldie classic, “Inner City Life”.
