The last time we discovered the first edition of this femme-centric minimal, post-punk and industrial mix from NYC’s Frank Deserto—aka the owner and operator of the fascinating obscure vinyl blog Systems of Romance—we were playing it for days. The latest edition, embedded above, is getting the same treatment. Compiled a month or so ago for Post-Punk.com, the excellent mix once again brings together the deepest female-led cuts Deserto could find.
We’re talking everything from the classic (The Passage’s early ’81 single “Watching You Dance”) into ’90s obscurities we never even knew (with Alison Shaw from the godly Cranes on vocals) up to the semi-modern (the sadly-departed death disco of The Vanishing). It’s a serious gem for lovers of rarities, new wave and just plain weirdly beautiful music.
