Listen To This Polish Gabber Mix Inspired By Our WIXAPOL S.A. Story
Who says music journalism can’t be inspiring anymore?
When we traveled last year to Poland to report on WIXAPOL’s vibrant neo-gabber underground, we were inspired by the speed, intensity and trollish humor surrounding the parties. At the time we wrote, “A night at WIXAPOL is like one big overwhelming grab-bag of donking basslines, absurd tempos, chugging 909 kicks that sound like barking dogs from hell, Polish sing-a-long choruses, nu-metal covers, Pope John Paul II samples, panic-inducing hardstyle stabs, a trance breakdown or two and the occasional guy screaming “HARDCORE!”.”

It turns out that our own awe at the Polish spectacle has gone on to inspire fellow gabber musicians. In this mix, the appropriately-named Jan Gabber 2 uses the above quote as the introduction to a stinging 26-minute medley of hardcore and gabber. When we first heard our quote through the crude, computerized voice, we realized this is exactly the second life we’d always wanted for our content.
