Mannequin Records has announced the re-release of some seminal minimal wave: a collection of records originally released on klangFarBe in the 1980s. The label was operated by Frank Bretschneider, who would later form Raster-Noton. klangFarBe’s catalogue spans just six releases, which were distributed in super limited runs. Given the political agenda in the former GDR, the reissue offers rare insight into electronic music production under a repressive regime. The double-vinyl release, entitled German Democratic Republic Tape Music 1983-1987, is due out on April 16.
