This Modular Synth Beast Is Definitely Worth $150,000
Now that’s a synthesizer.
When it comes to sick modular synthesizer rigs, there are beasts and then there are beasts. And of the latter category, few setups come close to prog-rock legend Keith Emerson’s massive Emerson Moog Modular.
The Emerson Moog Modular system was originally developed in the ’70s by Bob Moog and Emerson himself. It’s a fantastically complicated instrument that inspires awe and salivation among the synth faithful. Only three of these units have been made, and the third and final hand-built version will be displayed and sold at this year’s Sweetwater Gearfest. The cost? A fairly reasonable $150,000. Sure, for that price you could also buy 3061.2244898 of Behringer’s cheap $49 analog synths, but why not treat yourself to something special?
