Moog’s New Synthesizer Has Almost Limitless Sonic Potential
This video shows off the extremely limited edition Subsequent 37 CV, which features presets made by 808 State.
Synthesizers have become so popular in all forms of modern music, it’s amazing to think that their invention falls largely on the shoulders of two titans of electronic synthesis: Don Buchla and Bob Moog. In both cases, the synthesizer was always treated as more than just a machine; it was a break with the very principles that defined what sounds instruments could generate.
At this year’s Moogfest, a Moog Music engineer sat down and explained exactly why the synth was so revolutionary in its attempt to create “the idea of limitless music potential.” The synthesizer featured in the video is the Subsequent 37 CV synthesizer, which was unveiled just before Moogfest this past weekend. The beautiful instrument is a modular synth-friendly redesign of Moog’s Sub 37 Tribute and features presets from S U R V I V E, Simian Mobile Disco, 808 State, Syrinx and Zola Jesus.
