You Need To Watch This Fan-Made Video For Daft Punk's "Teachers"

Listen To A Menacing Techno Track From Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter

Necessary viewing for all Daft Punk fans.

Ever since Homework‘s release 20 years ago, fans of Daft Punk have been feverishly searching for the musical precursors that could have inspired the making of this landmark album. The record singlehandedly reset the template for how disco, funk and house could be calibrated into modern pop aesthetics. It also opened up listeners to a whole new sound palette that still feels as fresh today as it did in 1997.

And while a huge amount of research has gone into compiling extensive playlists of possible inspirations, or digging into the album’s sampling archives, Daft Punk themselves left the biggest clue as to their inspirations buried in the album itself. “Teachers” may not stack up next to the album’s more iconic tracks, but for the attentive listener, it effectively plays like an extensive homage to all the producers and DJs that shaped the Daft Punk sound.

Now, a fan has done the awesome work of setting the track to video. Featuring cartoon depictions of every musical figure named in the track from DJ Hell to Paul Johnson, it’s the perfect place to start if you want to dig into the duo’s background. Watch it below.
