Panasonic Brings Back Technics Turntable
Yesterday, Panasonic announced that it would bring back its iconic Technics turntable series during its yearly IFA press conference in Berlin. The Technics SL-1200 series was discontinued back in 2010, when the company anticipated a one-way market transition from analog to digital audio. However, it’s been virtually impossible to avoid the deluge of stories on vinyl’s resurgence in recent years, and apparently Panasonic has taken notice. The new Technics model—which is sleek and rendered in aluminum—is still in prototype form and won’t be available for testing until 2016, but tech sites like Wired speculate that it may be aimed more toward audiophiles than DJs.
