Philip Glass Scored A Cartoon In the '70s: It's Crazy
Kids had it so much better in the ’70s.
Philip Glass made music for children. Though that might seem unlikely, the seminal minimalist composer scored a short segment for Sesame Street in the ’70s titled “Geometry of Circles”. The result ought to be familiar to many people of a certain age, as it was easily one of the most psychedelic videos the show ever aired during its daring initial run.
Featuring Glass’ trademark polyrhythmic vocal cycles and sparkling keyboard work, we can only imagine what kind of fantastical influence this work had when it was first shown. Watch it below.
