This compact semi-modular noise synth packs some serious punch.
Some synths are renowned for the deep and lush tones of their oscillators. Others, however, get their edge by stretching their oscillators to the very limits of their sonic capabilities. The new Muscarin analog semi-modular synth does just that, creating complex noise structures that add a depth of character to any track they’re used on.
Originally designed as a noise generator, Danila Mikhaylin of kNoB Technology has made the Muscarin deeper and infinitely more complex by adding cross-modulation synthesis to its bag of tricks. Now, the Muscarin boasts analog and touch controls designed to be used on their own or as a part of a Eurorack modular system.
The Muscarin can be used to generate powerful bass, lead, piano, organ and violin sounds alongside deep and haunting atmospheres. Its cross-modulation capabilities help create, in the words of Mikhaylin, “complex, multifactorial noises, and noise effects, as well as lo-fi drum and percussion sounds.”
