'Trainspotting' Creator To Write '80s Acid House TV Show
Irvine Welsh has been tapped to tell the story of how acid house took over the UK.
Back in the ’80s, a couple lads from England went to the weird side of Ibiza and discovered something that would change the world forever. Those lads were Nicky Holloway, Paul Oakenfold and Danny Rampling. And that thing was proper all-night Balearic acid house clubbing. They brought it back with them to the UK, and raving was born.
Now, a new TV show called Ibiza 87 is looking to dramatize this special moment. That in it of itself is already pretty cool, but we’re particularly excited about one of the writers on the project, Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh. Considering how ravey that movie was, we think he’s just the guy to knock this one out of the park. Stay tuned to this space for more information as it rolls in.
