Chee Shimizu, a Japanese DJ who was among the first to bring cosmic and leftfield disco to the island, has launched a new project. With Japanism, he sets out to revive obscure Japanese records for vinyl release, according the Vinyl Factory. The first release in the series comes from Colored Music: an often overlooked, genre-defying act from the ’80s. The tracks are also treated to edits by Shimizu.
