Ben UFO, Tim Hecker And Jlin Will All Play This Year's Unsound Festival In Krakow
The Polish experimental festival has just announced the first wave of confirmed artists for its 2018 edition.
We recently announced Unsound Krakow’s 2018 theme, “Presence”. And now, the festival has come out with its first wave of artist names for the event. DJs will include Alva Noto, Ben UFO, Jlin, DJ Bus Replacement Service and Lucrecia Dalt—among many more—and special events will include an AI production from Amnesia Scanner and TCF, a brand new project from Tim Hecker and a dance inspired by genome sequencing from Company WayneMcGregor.

The festival has long been considered a bastion for forward-thinking curation—as we reflected upon in last year’s festival—so it’s no surprise that 2018’s offerings will be no different. According to the press releases, the curation for the new season, however, will aim to address some specific questions:
“What does it mean to be present in a world of media saturation, where reality can be virtual or augmented, intelligence made artificial? How should we exist in an age of self display, anxiety, cryptocurrencies, robotic technologies, data harvesting, algorithms, disinformation, social media bots and conspiracy theories? How does one understand nature, when it exists as a place to be visited rather than lived in?”
