Behringer's Cheap New Minimoog Clone Sounds Absolutely Amazing
The much-discussed Minimoog Model D clone made a surprise appearance at a Berlin music tech trade show over the weekend.
For the last few months, tech company Behringer has been working on a clone of the iconic Minimoog Model D synthesizer. The three-oscillator analog synth is based on the original circuit design of the Minimoog, but has been reconfigured for Eurorack and priced at a more affordable $400 USD.
This past weekend, the controversial project made an unscheduled appearance at Berlin’s synth trade show, Superbooth. Although still in prototype stage, the videos below show that the synth seems to have successfully captured the resonant low-end, punch and versatility of the expensive vintage original.
