Behind the scenes on the upcoming Slices DVD
Here’s a peak behind the scenes at Slices. The other day our colleagues sat down with Irish duo Solar Bears, whose Planet Mu-released album She Was Coloured In left quite an impression at the EB office with its melodic electronica and dreamy songs. The video shoot with Solar Bears aka John Kowalski and Rian Trench took place in Berlin at Lomography Gallery Store on Friedrichsstraße, and we got some images from that day to share with you.
Solar Bears’ music reflects certain lo-fi aesthetics, they’re for example using VHS tapes as means for recording to add distortion and damage to their sounds. It was a fun shoot for the upcoming issue of Slices and Solar Bears extended their analogue feel throughout the day by taking pictures with a couple of LOMO cameras – have a look at some of the results in the gallery to the right and listen to Solar Bears’ album below.
Besides their feature, the new Slices DVD has a whole bunch of great artist featured: think Sun Glitters, Wolfgang Voigt, Jacob Korn, and even more artists that we can’t reveal yet. Also, there will be new live recordings as well as a new episode of the great series Slices Tech Talk, which looks behind the curtain of technology and music production.
Slices Issue 1-12 will be out on March 15th 2012, you can grab the DVD for free at many different locations or subscribe to the magazine.
