Broadcast to score Berberian Sound Studio film
Berberian Sound Studio is a new film directed by newcomer Peter Strickland that will start shooting this month and it has been announced that UK psychedelic group Broadcast will score the soundtrack.
Obviously this news comes hand in hand with the very sad passing of Broadcast’s lead singer Trish Keenan who died of pneumonia earlier this year.
The film will be produced by Warp’s own film production company Warp X and stars Toby Jones (Infamous, Frost/Nixon, Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets) in the lead role.
The film is based one of Italy’s, “cheapest, sleaziest post-production studios in Italy”, which apparently is based on a real studio where the crew members start to go mad, where the lead actor Gilderoy (Toby Jones) “finds himself lost in an otherworldly spiral of sonic and personal mayhem.”
Strickland wrote this of Broadcast’s Keenan, “Broadcast have shaped the way I listen to music and also the way I see films. So many unexpected influences all came together into a world that was Broadcast’s, but still open for us to feed from.”
