Charli XCX is the one for us
If any rising artist captures the essence of the dissolution between mainstream and underground, it’s Charli XCX. The London-based musician, still in her teens, has already captured the imagination of the internet with her goth-tinged pop, as lovely as it is melancholy, and with the release of her new EP You’re The One, it’s just a matter of time before she breaks big.
Along with the EP’s title track, Charli also unveiled a brand new mixtape to accompany the release. Heartbreaks and Earthquakes is packed with recut tracks and samples from the likes of, among others, Drake and Blood Orange, a remix of ‘You’re The One’ by Odd Future member The Internet, and samples from essential teen films like The Craft and Cruel Intentions. It’s the perfect summergoth soundtrack to get your black-clad booty bumpin’. You’re The One is out today on IAMSOUND. Go get it.
