EB Exclusive: Download DJ Jana Rush’s ‘Junkie Riddim’ remix for Dryman
The Czech label Meanbucket, which is soon celebrating its second birthday with a bang (and juke kings DJ Rashad & DJ Spinn), has delivered an assortment of recontextualizations of ‘Junkie Riddim’ by its Czech label artist Dryman. A sonically diverse offer, the remix EP features producers from all over the world but whose mutual language is defined by an affection for bass. Prague is represented by the adopted Berliner Tvyks and Side9000 who recreated the original into a marvelously mellow number, while the Lithuanian tropical bass producer Ophex follows in a more buoyant direction.
After the legendary Traxman, another Dance Mania native is welcomed in the Meanbucket stable, Jana Rush, a respected DJ active in the Chicago dance scene since the nineties. “It’s quite interesting because, like Traxman, we knew her from Dance Mania records and she started commenting on some of our tracks”, says Meanbucket’s mastermind Jonathan Olmos. “So when we found out she was still producing we asked her to do a remix as she has a really unique and interesting style. Back in the 90’s she was one of the few female DJ’s and one of the youngest on the Chicago scene. She actually quit music for a while to work as a firefighter!”
Now go ahead and download that Jana Rush remix of Dryman’s ‘Junkie Riddim’ here.
