Editors’ Choice: October 18th, 2013
Rather than operate as a music news source, Electronic Beats operates as a music information source. We want to share with you; we want you to know what we’re hearing, what’s reverberating our cochleas and sending broader vibrations throughout our bodies, and by extension our audio-addled souls. Down with that? Welcome to Editors’ Choice.

Lady Gaga – “Aura”
When I went to see Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour in 201o, something in me died. It was when Gaga, in her highest pomp, reached out to her freaks… and a bunch of hair-bowed hen parties reached back. Three years, and one Born This Way later, I still believe there’s another “Bad Romance” out there, somewhere. This song isn’t it, but among the ideas slung together in fevered panic, I like at least two of ’em. Hate the line about the burqa though…

Soom T & Disrupt – “I Need Weed”
When the year nears its end, as days are getting shorter and shorter, it’s time to replay classic dub reggae tracks to counterstrike the upcoming winter depression. The above is off of the genre-breaking Ode 2 A Carrot LP from 2010 – brought to you by Jahtari label head disrupt in collaboration with the Glaswegian MC Soom T. Play it loud.

Bro Safari & Munchi – “Sin Compromiso” (Munchi’s Fuck Bitch Promoters VIP)
Because, even as we continue to intelligently dissect and reimagine musical structures for modern times, there’s still a little bro in all of us, and sometimes it wants hard-hitting moombahcore.

Knifefight – Knifefight
New York rap-poet Beans teams up with Ghostly’s Mux Mool for a conclusive occurrence in hiphop… a proper party record with “Feel Me” as one of the most played tracks in the office this week.

Twit One – “All Night/ All Day”
Twit One is, simply put, one of Germany’s finest beatmakers. I had the privilege of seeing him perform once again last night together with lyrical genius Retrogott as luxury warmup acts for Kool Keith (who looked very pale in comparison). Twit One’s brand new 33 track EP Urlaub In Der Bredouille is coming out next week—this track is the first real look inside.
IAMNOBODI – “Elevated”
IAMNOBODI’s debut album ‘Elevated’ is quite the funky ride. The MC/producer thoroughly enjoys dragging Dilla through a trough of wavering funky bass groves. One to watch out for.
