IAMSOUND snap up multi-media artists NewVillager
Newcomers to the very hyped label IAMSOUND are multi-media artists & producers NewVillager out of San Francisco.
IAMSOUND already have some great artists on their label like Salem, MEN, Telepathe & Black Ghosts but NewVillager will be joining them, putting out their self-titled album on the label in June.
Made up of two American natives, Ben Bromley and Ross Simonini, the pair have been putting out music since 2009, attracting attention from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone and the NME.
One of the stranger facts we’ve just learned about this group is that one-half of NewVillager, Ross Simonini also plays in one of America’s most underrated bands, the brilliant Trespassers William.
The both of them come from a heavy art/media background, dabbling in drawings, animations, performances, films, lectures, books and writings (geez, talk about all-rounders!), which for them translate to something called the ‘NewVillager mythology’. Their live visuals are taken care of by Ben Dickinson (LCD Soundsystem, the Rapture, Q-tip).
Creating their debut for over a year the band also intends to publish a 1000 page book.
Have a look at their video for their first single ‘Rich Doors’ which also doubles up as the feature for their art installation Rich Doors Ritual moving through 10 seperate art installations:
NewVillager will release their self-titled debut on June 21st on IAMSOUND
