Kraftwerk play live, on Twitter and WipEout 2048 plus BBC guest mix by Daniel Miller
Although they’re in their 42nd year Kraftwerk is still the benchmark for electronic music. Last year they premiered their video installation ‘Kraftwerk 3D’ in Munich’s Lenbachhaus, and the pioneer’s of electronica won’t stop there. During Miami Music Week 2012 Kraftwerk will be headlining Ultra Music festival on March 23rd, which is big news hence the rare number of Kraftwerk live shows.
Also, the Düsseldorf outfit is now on Twitter, so feel free to follow @Kraftwerk. And last but not least, they were just announced as part of the WipEout 2048 game soundtrack again with their track ‘Tour de France’, slightly edited for WipEout.
Most recently, Mute Records founder Daniel Miller guested on Mark Jones‘ BBC 6 mix programme, sharing his deep knowledge of Kraftwerk in an interview and spinning loads of music by Les Rhythmes Digitales, The Normal, lots of Kraftwerk, and Afrika Bambaataa. Also on the show: Factory Floor, who later played a guest mix of their own including tracks by VCMG, Neil Young, and Chris Carter.
Listen to the BBC 6 mix Kraftwerk special with Daniel Miller and Factory Floor for another 5 days over here, and check out Thomas Demand‘s review of ‘Kraftwerk 3D’ (taken from the most recent issue of Electronic Beats magazine).
