Nero’s Day At Disneyland gets touched by an angel
Nero’s Day At Disneyland is possibly one of the best modern composers we know. The LA-via-Oakland musician, known to his friends as Brock Bousfield, has been unleashing his trademark blend of glitch, spazzed-out breakcore, and sped-up baroque classical music for a while now, with each piece taking us higher, into dizzying realms of inspiration that most musicians only dream of. His last album From Rotting Fantasylands easily topped our 2009 Best Of list, and his latest work (including a mind-blowing remix of tATu’s ‘All The Things She Said’) reaches new heights of transcendence. ‘Heaven’s Gate’ finds him once more experimenting with vocals, and this time the classical strings come not from samples but from the viola work of Ezra Buchla (ex-Gowns/The Mai Shi.)
