Solvent – Curtains Video Premiere
Solvent – the electronic music producer who’s oeuvre stretches from glittering synth-wave to jacking electronics and most things in between has a rather interesting new project – his latest EP is created from one single synthesiser. However the machine is not just any ol’ box of transistors (well it is.. ) but a Yamaha CS5 monosynth that was purchase from a certain Richard James – aka Aphex Twin. Which in itself is not that exciting, but what is, is that Inscribed on the machine are the linear notes to Selected Ambient Works Volume II – a genre defining album by anyone’s standards.. We would imagine that you can probably smell the techy history in those etches and listening to the music which a mix of drones, squeaks and poppy jams you can hear a bit of it to. You can read the full story in detail here, and take a listen to the track ‘Curtains’ from the EP, which is called ‘RDJCS5’ ( and see the machine itself) below. Solvent is also going to be on a European tour over the next month – cacth him at these locations;
