Remember riding the carousel at the fair as a child? Every rotation, a metaphor for growth, a precursor to vomit. You can relive those formative memories via a series of kinetic sculptures titled “Growing Systems”. Constructed by generative design studio Nervous System, these works combine the primitive zoetrope (remember these?) with up-to-the-minute 3D printing techniques to reveal the sexy processes behind algorithmic growth patterns. Interesting that these forms develop in a life-like fashion yet they’re derived from math and expensive printers. Bring on the singularity!
