Arca is back with a brilliant mixtape in promotion of his forthcoming LP Reverie.
Arca had one of those vertiginous explosions of hype, fandom and critical acclaim in 2015, and for good reason. His record, Mutant, was an innovative inversion of hip-hop, pop and experimental electronic sounds that, when combined with Arca’s long-term collaboration with visual artist Jesse Kanda, managed to translate sonic texture into an immersive visual feast as well.
Last night, Arca tweeted news of a video debut for new track “Sin Rumbo” that also forms the final piece of a brand new 25 minute release/mixtape that dropped today. The whole LP is available for streaming above and free download via MediaFire with hi-res art from Kanda. The mix features Arca’s trademark production chops: arresting transitions, percussive interventions and beautiful pads. The mixtape also contains collaborations with Total Freedom and Micachu. It comes in the wake of Arca hinting at a new record, Reverie, that’s due out later this year.
