This Crazy '90s Synthesizer Is So Beastly It's A Starship

We don’t even know where to begin with this synthesizer console.

The ’90s were an amazing decade for science-fiction. It was then that Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space 9 became cultural phenomenons. The influence of those shows seems to have trickled down into mass culture. Case in point is the Starship One, a custom synth console designed by Marc Brassé that combines two unusual and overlooked synths: The Technics WSA1 and a Gem S3 Turbo. It also includes bass pedals, ribbon controllers and other extra modules. The synth features a special custom keyboard that uses 264 keys arranged so that every chord has the same fingering. Take a listen to what it sounds like on Brassé’s homepage, but don’t expect to see it on Gearogs any time soon
