For the last few years, the scene knew Dis Fig as a club DJ whose genre-bending edits tore apart dance floors with reckless abandon. But this spring, she hit us with a serious curveball, stepping out from behind the decks with a singular vision of industrial noise that highlighted her own vocals for the first time.
The following album, PURGE—which we covered in our in-depth feature with Dis Fig here—became an instant highlight of our year and positioned Dis Fig as one of the scene’s most interesting artists. The confrontational nature of album is channeled perfectly into her new video for “Unleash” directed by Alice Z Jones, where images of the artist twist and morph to the track’s plodding, metallic drums and blood-curdling screams.
