Dresden's Clubbers Host A Pro-Refugee Music Parade And Party
The moving safer space Tolerade and its after-party, Tolerave, return to Dresden this weekend.
Tolerave e.V., a not-for-profit coalition of representatives from Dresden’s music and creative scene, will host its third annual Tolerade parade and Tolerave after-party on May 20. The group formed in 2015 in response to “an increasing xenophobic atmosphere” in Dresden and the German state where it’s located, Saxony. The event helps to raise money for organizations that help refugees arriving in Germany, and their year-round efforts include workshops and discussions about relevant issues in the tight-knit scene of local house and techno crews.
“The streets will be turned into a dance floor,” explains a press release, which also reports that the purpose of the march and party is to “create an integrative space and an atmosphere in the city of Dresden and its club life, where anyone can feel comfortable and respected, regardless of skin color, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious belief, origin, purse or concept of life.” In short, it aims to be a “safer space”, which concept we discussed with likeminded parties Room 4 Resistance and SIREN last week.
