Are Festival Wristbands Bad For Your Health?
A new study suggest that festival wristbands can cause food poisoning.
For some, festival wristbands may be considered a badge of honor—or even a free fashion item. For scientists, however, they are absolutely disgusting and carry potentially serious health risks.
In a recent study conducted at the University of Surrey, the cloth of festival wristbands was found to contain more than 20 times the bacteria of other clothes. That is, the wristband studied contained 9,000 micrococci and 2,000 staphylococci. That’s alot of cocci if you ask us. In such concentrations, these bacteria “can cause boils and infections of cuts and grazes,” says the study, “and can also cause a form of acute food poisoning if they are ingested.”
Festivals are still pretty cool though. Check out some of the many highlights of EB Cologne over here.
