A look back at when Boredoms, Gang Gang Dance and a whole lot of drummers collided.
CVLT Nation gave us a wonderful flashback today with the above video. Back in 2008 on the 8th day of the 8th month, the 88 BOADRUM project bridged a gap between the East Coast and the West. In Brooklyn’s Williamsburg Waterfront, local electronic psychedelists Gang Gang Dance held court with 88 drummers, while LA’s La Brea Tar Pits brought the legendary Boredoms in with just as many percussionists.
It was a truly magical event that several of us were lucky to be at, and one worth revisiting. Although no online versions of the LA happening seem to exist, you can watch the Brooklyn night take shape above courtesy of NYC underground chronicler Unartig.
