Listen to Âme's Favorite Experimental Records From Germany's Kosmische Heyday
Kristian Beyer takes us through some of the stranger shades of his music taste.
Âme, or production duo Kristian Beyer and Frank Weidemann, are masters of mixing club grooves with more experimental elements. The duo, who just released their debut album, Dream House, last month, have always explored different sides of the sonic and stylistic spectrum, which lateley has led them toward releasing “home listening” music alongside their usual club offerings.
To help us understand the intricacies of their increasingly varied sound, Kristian Beyer released a list of some of his favorite German experimental records—most of which come from the always debatably-titled “Kosmiche” or “Krautrock” era.
From Conrad Schnitzler to Popul Vuh, the list’s psychedelic offerings are a window into the early, experimental days of a nascent electronic music scene—and a guide to the taste that makes Âme’s music so unique.
Listen to the tracks above, then head over to the full list on The Vinyl Factory here. Below, watch Âme take EB.tv through their studio in an edition of our Tech Talk series.
