Listen To New Music From The World's First Digital Synthesizer
An experimental synth from the ’70s has been given a new life, and it sounds crazy.
After years of sitting around in disrepair at Oberlin’s TIMARA department, it seems that the famous Bell Labs Digital Synthesizer has finally been given new life.
The instrument—dubbed the “Alles Machine” after its founder Hal Alles—was a proof of concept that helped to introduce digital additive synthesis to the world in 1970.
