Developed by Matt Verran, qrth-phyl is a mesmerizing new indie game inspired the golden era of games like Snake and Tetris. Crafting tunneling stages awash with color and activity, Verran has brought these games into the third dimension without sacrificing their old-school gaming feel.
To accompany your drifts through these graphic landscapes, Rolando Simmons has produced the perfect soundtrack. Taking references from ’90s IDM like Aphex Twin, chiptune music and Detroit electro, Simmons’ alternative soundtrack is a lesson in precise and sparkling sound design. Using samples from the AY-3-8912 audio chip used in the making of the game’s original soundtrack, qrth-phyl keeps one foot retro sounds and textures and the other in advanced club music that will please brain and feet alike.
