Michael Mayer Readies The Next DJ Kicks Mix
The Cologne master’s contribution includes tracks by Jon Hopkins, Roman Flügel and more.
Kompakt co-founder Michael Mayer has just been announced as the next contributor to !K7’s infamous DJ Kicks series. The Cologne producer has assembled a diverse roster of modern, forward-thinking dance cuts from the likes of Jon Hopkins, plus flashbacks to ’00s electro from Röyksopp and even ’80s industrial music. The mix also features some of Mayer’s typically refined productions and remixes.
Detailing how the mix was compiled in a press release, Mayer said that all the tracks as having gone “through heaven and hell with me. They’ve become true companions. Circling in on and bringing together these friends was the only criterion for the making of this mix. I wanted it to be as personal as possible.” The mix drops May 19.
