Sony Will Press Records For The First Time In Nearly 30 Years
The Japanese behemoth is turning back the clock.
Sony Japan has announced it will start pressing records again. The electronics giant is opening a new pressing plant in Shizuoa Prefecture almost 30 years after it switched its production capacity to CDs. With the global increase in vinyl sales showing no sign of slowing, Sony’s announcement follows new pressing plants opening in Detroit and Berlin.The new plant will initially focus on Japanese reissues and contemporary releases but they have indicated they could take outside orders from other labels.
