The Teaser Video For Demdike Stare's New LP Looks And Sounds Like The Future Of Club Music

The duo’s new double LP Passion is a mesmerizing feedback loop between club music’s past and future.
UK duo Demdike Stare are back with a new LP, and this time, the experimental sampling experts have laid a myriad of UK club music styles on the dissecting table. Like sonic excavators, the duo reconfigure fragments of sound into compositions that sound both entirely new and haunted by their pasts.
Their new LP, Passion, sees the duo offer up nine blown-out and fractured interpretations of dancehall, jungle, hardcore, garage and grime. Continuing on from their 2016 LP, Wonderland, the record shows their deep passion for UK club music—which was also on full display when they gave Electronic Beats a run down of their favorite Source Direct tracks.
Demdike Stare also recruited visual artist Michael England to create a cinematic accompaniment to the new release. His trailer mashes up footage from Blackpool promenade, a Newark roller rink and a vogue ball he captured on his phone while on a night out in NYC. The video blurs time, space and context into a dreamy and inspiring piece of sonic cinema.
