There’s never a bad time to revisit some vintage Sven Väth—not that, in his case, “vintage” can be reduced to a certain musical style or period. From his Omen Club days in Frankfurt through early rave or his late and long-lasting Cocoon Ibiza residencies, Väth’s career traverses more than three decades of electronic music stamped with his unique charisma and uncompromising passion.
The above video from 2003 showcases Väth’s abundance of talent. Filmed during a three-hour set at a XXL Clubnight, Väth effortlessly mixes early electroclash, minimal, tech house and hard warehouse techno. Featuring tracks from his pal Ricardo Villalobos, Speedy J, Luciano and Chateau Flight, it’s a perfect encapsulation of the early-2000s club sound from one of its great tastemakers.
Check out all three hours, including some on-the-mic moderation from Väth himself, above.
